Guide Agreement
Version 2026-11-02b, last updated November 2, 2026
This agreement is between ExplorOFF LLC (“ExplorOFF”, “we”, “us”) and you, the guide or tour operator who lists paid trips on exploroff.com (“you”, the “Operator”). You accept it by ticking the box in your guide dashboard. It sits alongside our Terms of Service; where the two differ about paid trips, this agreement wins.
1. Our role
ExplorOFF acts as a booking agent. We list your trips, take the traveler's booking and payment on your behalf, and pass the booking to you. ExplorOFF LLC is registered as a Seller of Travel in Washington State (registration #606293679).
We don't run, lead, supervise or insure any trip. The contract for the trip itself is between you and the traveler.
2. You are independent
You run your own business. You aren't our employee, agent or partner, and you decide how you run your trips. You are solely responsible for:
- Running every trip you sell safely and as described, including the guides you send, the equipment, the route and every decision made on the trip.
- Holding every permit, license, concession and registration the trip needs, including tourism registrations and permits for protected areas.
- Following the laws of every place you operate, including consumer, tax, employment and tourism law.
- If you include lodging or transport with a trip, following the package-travel rules that apply to you. In the EU that includes the Package Travel Directive (EU) 2015/2302 and your country's version of it, such as holding any insolvency guarantee it requires.
3. Insurance
You must hold liability insurance that covers the trips you sell, and keep it current for as long as you sell through ExplorOFF.
Tell us before your policy expires and upload the renewal in your dashboard. If your insurance expires or a required document is missing, we may stop paid booking for your trips until it's fixed. This can happen automatically on the expiry date.
We keep your insurance documents private. We use them only to check that you can sell paid trips and to respond if a claim is made, and we never sell them or share them with anyone else unless the law requires it. You can ask us to delete them when you stop selling.
4. Your listings
Everything you tell travelers through ExplorOFF must be accurate and kept up to date: the route, difficulty, what's included, prices, group sizes, fitness and age requirements, and your qualifications. Fix anything that changes before it affects a booking.
You give ExplorOFF permission to use the photos you upload and the reviews of your trips on our website, in emails, on social media and in ads, to bring customers to the trips you lead. You confirm you own these photos or have permission to share them, including from anyone recognizable in them. This permission lasts while your trips are listed on ExplorOFF. When you stop listing, we stop new uses.
5. Traveler information and health data
We pass you the details you need to run a booking, which can include health information such as medical conditions, allergies and emergency contacts. You may use it only for the safety of that trip. Keep it secure, don't share it with anyone who doesn't need it for the trip, and delete it once the trip and any follow-up it requires are over. You are responsible for following the data protection law that applies to you, including the GDPR in the EU.
6. Fees and payment
Travelers pay through Stripe into your own connected Stripe account. ExplorOFF's fee is 15% of each booking, taken automatically through Stripe as an application fee. Stripe's own processing fees are separate, are set by Stripe and are paid by you. If a confirmed booking is cancelled and refunded, Stripe keeps its processing fee, so that fee is not refunded to you. A booking you decline or don't confirm in time is never charged, so it carries no fee.
7. Review and suspension
We review every operator by hand before they can sell paid trips, usually within 24 hours. We read what you send us, but we don't verify your credentials, insurance, permits or qualifications, and our approval isn't a statement that they are valid. We may suspend paid booking or remove a listing if your insurance lapses, documents are missing or out of date, a listing is inaccurate, or we have a safety concern.
7a. Your calendar, confirmations and placement
Travelers book from the calendar you connect for each trip (FareHarbor, Google, Apple, Outlook, or dates you add by hand). Keep it accurate: a day that shows as open should be one you can run. When a traveler books, you have 24 hours to confirm or decline. If you don't answer, the traveler's card hold is released.
On an ExplorOFF itinerary several guides can lead, the first guide to choose it is shown first to travelers on the days they're free, and gets requests for other days first. If you decline or don't answer three requests in a row for a trip, you lose that first place and move down the list. If you cancel a confirmed booking, you refund the traveler in full.
Don't ask travelers you met through ExplorOFF to book that trip with you outside ExplorOFF to avoid our fee.
8. Responsibility for claims
You are responsible for claims arising from the trips you run. You agree to cover ExplorOFF for any claim, loss or cost that comes from your trips, your listings or your breaking this agreement or the law, including reasonable legal fees, except where it was caused by our own gross negligence or willful misconduct.
ExplorOFF is not liable to you for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost bookings. Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
9. Changes and ending
We may update this agreement. When we do, we'll change the version above and ask you to accept the new one in your dashboard before you keep selling paid trips. Either of us can end it at any time. Bookings already made stay your responsibility to deliver or refund.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, and any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in King County, Washington. If any part of it is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
10. Contact

How it works
- An email the morning each window opens, never the day after.
- A 14-day heads-up so you can line up your group and dates.
- Win odds and a ranked backup plan for every trail you pick.
Didn't win? We keep watching. We check recreation.gov every day for The Enchantments, Half Dome and Angels Landing, and email you the moment a sold-out date frees up. Cancellations are the second chance most people never hear about.
