A rugged overnight into Gothic Basin. We hike the Weden Creek Trail #724 up to Foggy Lake, camp in the high alpine basin under Del Campo and Gothic Peaks, and pack out the next day. This is a hard trip on state (DNR) and national-forest land — for hikers with backpacking experience and good fitness.

Rules & conditions

Camping is allowed in the basin and the surrounding Morningstar Natural Resources Conservation Area. Campfires are prohibited — bring a stove for hot food. Pack out everything you bring in.

The upper basin is rocky and holds snow into summer. Check current trail and weather conditions before you go.
