Supplier or Affiliate? Two Different Programs
People mix these up, and GetYourGuide runs them separately.
- Supplier: you operate the tour and GetYourGuide sells it. This is the program for guides and tour operators, and the rest of this article covers it.
- Affiliate (Partner Program): you promote other people's tours on a website or social account and earn a commission on bookings. GetYourGuide's partner page says affiliates "earn a minimum commission rate of 8%, paid monthly". Online travel agencies and destination management companies are pointed to this program, not the supplier one.
There's also a third, smaller one. Existing suppliers can promote other GetYourGuide activities on their own booking confirmation pages and earn 10% on those referrals.
Who Can Become a GetYourGuide Supplier
GetYourGuide's help center says it works with "registered businesses and individual traders who directly operate their own tours". It excludes "resellers or aggregators, online travel agencies, destination management companies, or unregistered private guides." So a solo guide can list, as long as you're registered as a sole trader or business where you operate.
Some activity types aren't accepted: self-guided audio tours and games, car or scooter rentals, plain point-to-point transfers and accommodation. Free tours and tip-based tours aren't allowed either. Onboarding is also restricted in some countries, including India, Egypt, Turkey and the UAE.
How to Sign Up, Step by Step
- Create an account on the supplier site and confirm your email.
- Verify your business. Verification runs through Persona with a photo ID and a selfie. Companies give their legal name, company registration number (not a tax or VAT number), registered address and the managing director's name. Individual traders give a photo ID, legal name and address. GetYourGuide says many verifications clear in minutes and some take up to 48 hours. You get three attempts.
- Add payment and business details: bank details, tax ID (an EIN for US suppliers), insurance details and your business license or registration.
- List your first activity and submit it for review. "Without completed verification and updated payment details, you cannot submit products for review." Most activities are reviewed within a few days. A rejected activity can't be resubmitted, so get it right the first time.
On insurance, the supplier terms require general liability cover with no fixed amount. US and Canadian services that use vehicles need at least US$1,000,000 in vehicle insurance.
GetYourGuide Supplier Fees and Commission
| Item | What GetYourGuide says |
|---|---|
| Cost to list | "There is no cost for adding and maintaining an activity on the platform." |
| Commission rate | Not published. A percentage of the retail price, set in your supplier account, varies by country. Suppliers must keep it confidential. |
| Commission increases | Four weeks' notice, at most once a year, capped (their example: 25% may rise to no more than 30%). You can leave at once if an increase is 20% or more of your current rate. |
| Payouts | Monthly, by the fifth business day, for completed bookings in the prior month. Twice-monthly payouts cost an extra 2%. |
| Card fees | Paid by GetYourGuide |
| Ranking | You can raise your commission voluntarily, which "may have a positive effect on ranking". |
You'll see "20 to 30%" quoted on third-party sites. That's not a number GetYourGuide publishes, and the 25% and 30% in its terms are only an example of the increase cap. Budget for a commission in that range until you see your own rate, and price your trip so it still works after it.
The Rules That Matter Most
These come from GetYourGuide's supplier terms and quality guidelines, and they shape your whole business on the platform.
- Price parity. Your GetYourGuide price and availability must be "equal to or better than" what you offer on your own website.
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start is the standard for customers. Late cancellations and no-shows are paid to you as completed bookings.
- If you cancel without force majeure, you pay a cancellation fee of 25% of the retail price.
- Performance standards: a cancellation rate of 1.0% or lower and a no-show rate of 0.2% or lower, over a rolling 90 days.
- No direct contact. Listings can't include your contact details or encourage travelers to book direct.
- Reviews are licensed exclusively to GetYourGuide, replies must be public, and you can't contact a customer privately about a review.
- Listing limits: prices must include all mandatory fees, up to €2,000 per person. The booking cut-off can be no more than 10 hours before the start, and the minimum group size must be five or fewer.
Not ready to give up your own pricing and your guests' contact details? ExplorOFF is free to join, with no exclusivity and no price-parity clause, and we take 15% plus card processing only on a booking we bring you. List your tour on ExplorOFF alongside GetYourGuide or instead of it.
Does GetYourGuide Take Multi-Day Trips?
Yes. GetYourGuide's help center says the day-by-day itinerary builder "is mandatory" for new multi-day tours, and "small group" on a multi-day tour means 18 people or fewer. But the catalog is built around shorter experiences. The supplier site lists "Attractions, Theme Parks, Guided & City Tours, City Cards, Hop-on-hop-off, Transfers, Activities, and Workshops". A five-day backpacking trip sits in a store made mostly for same-week, few-hour purchases. We cover what that means for selling longer trips in how to market multi-day guided trips.
Connecting Your Booking System
You don't have to manage GetYourGuide availability by hand. Its connectivity page lists FareHarbor, Bókun, Rezdy, Peek Pro, Regiondo, Ventrata, Checkfront, bookingkit, Rezgo, Bookeo and TourCMS among 100+ reservation systems, and its help center lists TrekkSoft through ExperienceBank. Connect before you go live, so a booking on GetYourGuide blocks the same seat everywhere else. If you're still picking software, see FareHarbor alternatives for small businesses.
Support for GetYourGuide Suppliers
GetYourGuide offers suppliers a help center, a contact form and a support chat. The help center says the chat is "available 24/7 for our Active Suppliers in English, Italian, French, Spanish, and German", but it's labeled a beta feature for simple issues, and complex cases go through the contact form. We found no mention of a dedicated account manager for regular suppliers. Customers get free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead and 24/7 multilingual support, according to GetYourGuide's about page.
Benefits of Joining GetYourGuide
The case for listing is reach. GetYourGuide's about page says it offers over 150,000 experiences in 12,000 cities and has sold over 200 million tickets. Listing is free, card fees are on them, and late cancellations still pay you. For a guide in a busy tourist city with short, repeatable tours, that traffic is hard to get any other way.
The costs are real too: a commission you won't know until you sign up and can't share, price parity with your own site, no direct contact with guests, reviews that belong to the platform, and a 25% fee if you cancel. Small outdoor operators feel those rules most, since weather cancellations and small groups are part of the job.
Is GetYourGuide Legit? Scams to Watch For
GetYourGuide is a real, large marketplace. The scams around it target suppliers. GetYourGuide's help center warns that it "never requests payment as compensation for reviewing activities or partnerships", and that "any website asking for upfront fees to list activities" is fraudulent. It doesn't contact suppliers over WhatsApp or Telegram, and staff email only from @getyourguide.com addresses. If someone offers to "fast-track" your listing for a fee, it isn't GetYourGuide.
On the platform side, GetYourGuide can refuse suspicious bookings and suspend activities for fraud. It can also hold payouts during an investigation. It doesn't guarantee payment if a customer files a chargeback.
Selling Outdoor Trips on ExplorOFF
ExplorOFF is a marketplace built for outdoor trips, with roughly 150 day-by-day itineraries for national parks and wild places, and guided trips placed right inside those plans. It works differently from GetYourGuide on the points above. Our rate is public: 15% plus standard card processing, only on a booking we bring you. Joining is free, there's no exclusivity, and you keep selling on your own site, FareHarbor or GetYourGuide. You set your own price and group size. A person checks your commercial liability insurance and land-use authorization (such as an NPS CUA) once, and approval takes up to 24 hours. List your tour.
